Spinal Cord Injury / Cleveland, Ohio
Born in Germany, Teresa moved to Cleveland when she was 6 years old and learned English through watching TV and playing with other children. She worked as a secretary and receptionist throughout most of her adult life. When she wasn’t working, she could usually be found on the dance floor.
Unfortunately, her dancing days ended when she was struck by a truck crossing the street. Her injury left her a quadriplegic, paralyzed from the shoulders down. She moved into a skilled nursing home where she has lived ever since.
Teresa chose to see the glass as “half-full” and lives her life with a positive attitude. Her faith in God has helped her throughout her journey. Her goal is to learn as much as she can about her injury and discover ways in which she can be an advocate for others who are also disabled.
Getting Back Up is proud to support Teresa with funding towards a new computer and printer, as well as voice activated software.
