L1 Spinal Cord Injury / Media, Pennsylvania
A freelance Production Designer and Audio Engineer, Ethan suffered a spinal cord injury when he fractured his T9 vertebra in a swimming accident. The injury left him partially paralyzed from the waist down.
A born fighter, Ethan took his recovery into his own hands after insurance stated that he “would never walk again” and ceased to pay for therapy services, after only three weeks of inpatient therapy.
Fueled with the drive and tenacity to change his situation, Ethan sought treatment at the local YMCA, and with the support of others went from a flicker of movement in his left quad to being able to move both legs and walk with the assistance of parallel bars.
Getting Back Up is proud to support Ethan with a scholarship to continue receiving the therapy he needs at Project Walk San Diego in Carlsbad, California.
