T6 Spinal Cord Injury / Daytona Beach, Florida
Matthew, a business student at Bethune-Cookman University was heavily involved in his school’s extracurricular activities before his motor vehicle injury. He participated in Black Males Initiative, a program that mentors boys to stay in school and put their education first. He was also part of Brother to Brother, which monitors the emotional, mental and physical well-being of others.
Although his accident is tragic, it has opened his eyes to a different world and matured him and made him more grateful for the little things in his life. He is also extremely grateful for his girlfriend who encouraged him to explore exercise treatment options at Project Walk.
Driven by hope and faith, Matthew is excited to continue his rehabilitation and become a stronger individual!
Getting Back Up is proud to support Matthew with an exercise-based therapy scholarship to Project New Jersey.
